The Nobel Prize laureate is critical of the Republican Presidential candidate’s stance on immigration.
NIGERIA'S NOBEL Prize laureate Wole Soyinka says he will destroy his green card if Donald Trump succeeds in his bid to become president of the United States.
The green card which provides its holder with permanent residence in the US is highly valued by many African immigrants to the US.
His comments emerged in a video of a conversation with students at Oxford University.
The author appears to be critical of Trump’s stance on immigration.
Trump has been often quoted on his promise to build a wall to keep Mexican immigrants out of the country if he wins the election.
Soyinka told his student audience that said he feared the Republic candidate would ask all green-card holders to reapply to come back into the US.
"Well, I'm not waiting for that," he said. "The moment they announce his [Trump's] victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up."
American voters go to the polls next Tuesday and latest polls show the two candidates are neck and neck.
